DETAILS OF BENEFICIARIES The services rendered by the Mission have proved a real boon to the ailing poor tribal brethren as can be seen from the increase in the number of beneficiaries over the years.
RECOGNITION AND ASSISTANCE. The State Government recognized the services rendered by the Mission and started annual grants in 1981-82, and the Central Government started aiding the Mobile Unit from 1991-92 and the hospital from 1994. The Coffee Board gave financial assistance for nonrecurring items of expenditure such as construction of building, purchase of equipments etc.. The Spices Board, Ernakulam and the Tea Board, Calcutta are the two other quasi- Government organizations besides the UPASI and the Bombay Hospital Trust which extended help. The prestigious Jana Kalyan Samithi of Pune has honoured the Mission by the Guruji Golwalkar Puraskar in 1996. The Mission’s chief medical officer Dr.D.D.Sagdeo also has been honoured by the Jaycees, I.M.A. and Rotary Club. There was a letter of appreciation in the esteemed medical Journal LANCET also. |
